About me

Growing up with a mom that was a working photographer and artist, I was immersed in imagery from a young age. I remember being in awe of the authentic emotions and beautiful natural light she could capture in a photograph. She had an amazing ability to catch the exact moment that could express a feeling. In contrast my dad was a craftsman who worked in construction. His work ethic, project management and practical approach to craft was also a huge influence. I have found that my own work through various mediums such as photography, ceramics, design/build construction, cinematography and branding, all exist at the overlap of art, design, craft and communication. In the time between 2005 and 2012 I started and operated a specialty contracting business in the construction industry. During this time and out of necessity for the business to grow, I discovered the power of marketing & branding and a love for the process. In 2012 I sold the business and went back to school enrolling in a two year program which combined the disciplines of video, photography, graphic design, advertising and marketing. This led to working as a freelancer for many outstanding agencies and production companies including Swanson Studios, Sockeye, Kamp Grizzly, Instrument, Wieden+Kennedy, Nemo Design, Sprout Box, House Special, and Juliet Zulu. Some of the clients I worked for were National Geographic, Adidas, Nike, Audi, Hydroflask, Specialized, Timex and Garmin.  While freelancing I also began working directly for clients delivering  video, photography, websites, brand strategy and content creation for social platforms. During this time, the vision for Topo was born: To collaborate with businesses who create products and services they care deeply about, telling stories about those who work with their hands, the earth, and their local communities to shape the world they want live in.
